Player Outlook

C.J. Prosise could be the No. 3 running back in Seattle this season behind Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny, but he has minimal Fantasy value in that role. Prosise will likely need an injury to become Fantasy relevant, but he could also compete with J.D. McKissic, Bo Scarbrough and rookie Travis Homer for touches. Keep an eye on Prosise's role in training camp, but he's not worth drafting in most formats.

  • Seahawks' C.J. Prosise: Injured again
    By RotoWire Staff

Prosise hurt his hamstring during Thursday's practice, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports. Head coach Pete Carroll said Prosise felt his hamstring tighten, which is an especially unfortunate occurrence on the last day of minicamp. Moreover, it's especially troublesome that it happened to Prosise, given his long history of injuries. There's no guarantee the 25-year-old will be fully ready to go in time for training camp.

  • Seahawks' C.J. Prosise: Could replace Mike Davis
    By RotoWire Staff

Coach Pete Carroll said Prosise (abdomen) is making good progress in his recovery from December surgery and should have a chance to fill Mike Davis' old role, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports. Davis was a big part of the Seattle rushing attack during the first half of the 2018 campaign, later settling in as a passing-down specialist after Rashaad Penny secured the No. 2 runner role. Playing in a run-heavy offense, Davis finished the season with career-high marks across the board, taking 112 carries for 514 yards (4.6 average) and four touchdowns while adding 34 catches for 214 yards and another score. It would be heavily optimistic to expect a similar campaign from Prosise, who has played just 16 games in three seasons thanks to a constant onslaught of injuries. He actually played more snaps on special teams (34) than offense (30) in 2018, and the Seahawks still have J.D. McKissic to compete for snaps on passing downs.

  • Seahawks' C.J. Prosise: Slated for healthy offseason
    By RotoWire Staff

Coach Pete Carroll expects Prosise (abdomen) to be fully healthy by the start of Seattle's offseason training program April 15, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports. "C.J. really needed the surgery that he had," Carroll said. "It was a little more extended than we thought, but he'll be back from that. That's about an eight-week recovery or something like that so he'll be fine." Prosise has appeared in16 of a possible 48 regular-season games since the Seahawks tabbed him with a third-round draft selection in 2016. While the Seahawks haven't completely given up on him, it's possible Prosise could face an uphill battle for a roster spot in 2019 given his lack of reliability. A former wide receiver, the hope is that Prosise can be effectively utilized as a receiving option out of the backfield who could complement a lead runner like Chris Carson or Rashaad Penny.

  • Coach Pete Carroll said Prosise is slated for abdominal surgery, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports. Prosise initially dealt with a core muscle injury in September and has been a near-regular on Seahawks inactive lists as a healthy scratch for most of the season. Last week, he landed on the injury report with what was called an abdominal issue but later clarified to be "an abdomen/groin/hip-flexor thing" by Carroll, per Condotta. With surgery on tap, Prosise will soon focus his efforts on getting healthy. He has one year remaining on his rookie contract, so despite frequent bouts with injury in three seasons as a pro, Prosise is a candidate to stick around in 2019 in a backfield that has been dominated by Chris Carson (finger), Mike Davis and rookie Rashaad Penny during the current campaign.

  • Seahawks' C.J. Prosise: Placed on IR
    By RotoWire Staff

Prosise (abdomen) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio 950 KJR Seattle reports. Prosise was already ruled out for a third consecutive week due to what head coach Pete Carroll described as "an abdomen/groin/hip-flexor thingy," which is confusing as it is concerning. The 2016 third-round pick was thought to be a candidate for a third-down role entering the 2018 season, but a litany of injuries and poor timing never allowed for that possibility to occur. With a smorgasbord of nondescript running backs already on the roster, there's a possibility Prosise may have played his last game with the Seahawks, but with one year remaining on his rookie deal, it's more likely the team simply waits until closer to training camp to make any sort of roster decision on the 24-year-old.
