Maple Leafs' John Tavares: Back after difficult COVID ordeal

Tavares (COVID-19 protocols) returned to the practice ice Sunday after missing 11 days, reports the Toronto Star.

Tavares was one of the first Leafs stricken with the virus and experienced a pounding headache, severe body aches and loss of energy, smell and taste. And he was one of the first back from the protocols. Unfortunately, there were 14 Leafs and seven staffers, including coach Sheldon Keefe, on the protocol list, and 24 AHL Marlies are also in protocols. Wednesday's game has been postponed, which gives the team more time to recover.
