Cam Newton might want to demand a recount.

The Panthers quarterback finished in a close second to Tom Brady in the final tally of fan Pro Bowl voting that was released by the NFL on Thursday. Brady and Newton received a total of 1.4 million votes combined and in the end, Brady edged Newton by just 468 votes (701,554-701,086).

That means Brady beat Newton by just .03 percent.

Brady and Newton were two of only seven players who received more than 500,000 votes. Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton(525,638 votes), Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer (514,967), Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (510,374), Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski (509,251) and Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. (502,241) were the other five.

Besides Brady and Newton, the only other position group that was decided by fewer than 1,000 votes came at offensive guard, where Carolina's Trai Turner (177,471) edged Green Bay's Josh Sitton by just 756 votes (176,715).

Anyway, just because you get a lot of votes doesn't necessarily mean you're going to make the Pro Bowl. The fan voting only makes up one-third of the selection process. NFL players and coaches will also get a say in who makes it to the Pro Bowl when they vote on Dec. 18.

After those votes are tallied, the NFL will reveal the 2016 Pro Bowl players during a television special that will air Dec. 22 on NFL Network.

One month after that, the NFL will hold a Pro Bowl draft with team captains Michael Irvin and Jerry Rice, which will be held on Jan. 27.

The Pro Bowl itself is scheduled for Jan. 31 and will be played in Hawaii.
