  • Saints' Trai Turner: Lands on IR

Turner (quadriceps) was placed on injured reserve Monday.

Turner suffered a torn quadriceps during practice Friday, which will force him to miss the upcoming season. He had just signed a one-year contract with the team Tuesday and was expected to compete for a depth role on New Orleans' offensive line. Instead, the 30-year-old will turn his focus to getting healthy and being ready to compete in 2024.

  • Saints' Trai Turner: Done for 2023

Turner, who left Friday's practice early, is out for the 2023 season after tearing his quadriceps, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.

Turner, a New Orleans native, signed a one-year deal with the Saints on Tuesday and was with the second-team offense during 11-on-11 drills Thursday. The 2014 third-round pick played for the Commanders in 2022, starting in 12 of 16 games. His loss is a blow to the Saints' depth on the offensive line.

  • Saints' Trai Turner: Heading home

Turner signed a one-year contract with the Saints on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Turner grew up in New Orleans and played at LSU before beginning his career in Carolina in 2014. The 30-year-old is a former Pro Bowler who spent last season with Washington starting 12 of the 16 games he appeared in. He should strengthen the depth of the Saints' offensive line in 2023.

  • Commanders' Trai Turner: Returns to practice in full

Turner (ankle/knee) was a full participant in the Commanders' practice Thursday, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.

Turner was forced out with an ankle/knee injury during Pittsburgh's Week 13 win over the Falcons, which also left him sidelined against Carolina on Sunday. The 29-year-old should now be ready to go again after returning to practice in a full capacity Thursday. Expect Turner to reprise his starting role at right guard versus the Giants this Sunday.

  • Commanders' Trai Turner: Won't play Sunday

Turner (ankle/knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Giants, Sam Fortier of The Washington Post reports.

Turner is slated to miss his first contest of the 2022-23 campaign after he was forced out of the Week 12 matchup versus Atlanta with apparent ankle and knee injuries. The 320-pounder had previously dealt with a lingering quad issue from July through September, which could possibly be a contributing factor in Washington's decision to sideline Turner this weekend in New York. Saahdiq Charles appears to be the top candidate to draw the start.

Turner (ankle) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Falcons, Zach Selby of the Commanders' official site reports.

  • Commanders' Trai Turner: Cleared from injury report

Turner (quadriceps) was absent from the Commanders' injury report Wednesday.

Turner's clearance comes as a bit of a surprise after John Keim of ESPN.com reported Monday that head coach Ron Rivera felt they had rushed him back, and he needed to continue strengthening his leg. Assuming the 29-year-old does return Sunday against the Titans, he'll be operating as a reserve behind Saahdiq Charles at right guard.

  • Commanders' Trai Turner: Suffers injury setback

Commanders coach Ron Rivera said Monday that Turner needs additional time to strengthen his leg due to a lingering quad injury, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.

Turner was ultimately able to play Week 1 after picking up a quad injury this offseason, though Rivera added that the team likely rushed him back somewhat. The starting right guard played only 11 offensive snaps during Sunday's loss to the Cowboys, leaving third-year offensive lineman Saahdiq Charles to step in for the time being.
