Heyward (finger) took batting practice Friday and will likely be activated Saturday, Jeff Arnold of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Heyward, out since May 6 with a sprained finger, said his rehab appearance at South Bend went better than expected and he's certain he'll be able to return to the lineup as expected. It's great news for both parties as it allows manager Joe Maddon to reinsert a left-handed hitter into the lineup. Heyward is slashing .253/.333/.364 with 17 RBI this season and should be in line to return to his everyday role in right field, despite the emergence of phenom Ian Happ.
