The Padres reassigned Brooks to minor-league camp Wednesday.
San Diego signed Brooks to a minor-league deal in December, but the 32-year-old wasn't able to win a spot in the Friars' Opening Day bullpen after attending camp as a non-roster invitee. Assuming he sticks with the San Diego organization, Brooks could serve as a swingman at Triple-A El Paso to begin the 2023 campaign.
