Marinez threw 2.2 scoreless innings Monday in his debut for the Pirates. He allowed two hits and two walks without striking out a batter.
He loaded the bases in his final inning before Daniel Hudson relieved him and recorded the third out. Marinez offers a sinking fastball, which the organization believes can become an effective weapon. Milwaukee released him recently after he allowed 23 hits and 11 walks in 16.2 innings. He'll likely continue to work in low-leverage spots as the team attempts to turn his season around.
