Rodriguez is regaining some of manager Brad Ausmus's trust and could work his way back into high-leverage situations, Ryan Zuke of MLive.com reports.
Rodriguez tossed scoreless innings on Friday and Sunday in Texas, and while that's a small sample, it's better than his previous results this season. "I would like to get him back in the (late-inning) mix, probably," Ausmus said. "If he can keep having outings like this, it makes it a lot easier to have a deeper bullpen." Justin Wilson has been outstanding as Detroit's closer, so K-Rod might be hard pressed to wrestle that role back. But he could be looking at some more holds and possibly some vultured wins if he pitches later in close games.
