Johnson was assigned to the D-League's Salt Lake City Stars on Tuesday, Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Since being cleared to return to the court in February after spending all season recovering from a herniated disc, Johnson has made a lone three-minute appearance off the Clippers bench. While Johnson hasn't experienced any setbacks with the injury, the lack of playing time is less than ideal for a rookie, so heading to the D-League will give him the opportunity to gain some meaningful in-game reps. Don't expect Johnson to be included in the rotation once he rejoins the Clippers after the D-League stint.
