The Pacers announced Tuesday that McConnell (wrist) will remain in a cast for the next 10-to-12 weeks before the team estimates a timeline for his return to basketball activities.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN broke the news earlier Tuesday that McConnell underwent surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist, noting in the report that the point guard was expected to miss several months. The Pacers essentially confirmed that timeline, as McConnell will almost certainly need more than two and a half months for his wrist to heal and to get back into basketball shape once cleared for on-court work. Given the length of his absence, McConnell looks like a safe drop in the majority of fantasy leagues.
