Pelicans' Zion Williamson: Cleared for basketball activities

Williamson (foot) is returning to New Orleans on Saturday and has been cleared to participate in basketball activities, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

Williamson had been spending time in Portland recently for rehab on his foot, but he's shown improvement recently and has been gradually progressing in the intensity of his activities. It's not yet clear when the Duke product will be in the mix to return to game action, but it's possible that he could return to the court late in the regular season or during the postseason if the Pelicans clinch a playoff spot.
