The Chiefs waived Thompson on Saturday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
The Chiefs had a couple depth receiving roles up for grabs, but Thompson was competing with more than a handful of other pass catchers for the opportunity. Ultimately, the undrafted rookie out of Toledo was unable to show enough during camp for the job. He remains a candidate for the team's practice squad should he clear waivers.
