Kendricks was released by the Rams on Thursday, Rich Hammond of the Orange County Register reports.

The veteran tight end was due to make $3.75 million in base salary each of the next two season before being released Thursday. With Kendricks gone, the Rams could be signaling their confidence in second-year tight end Tyler Higbee. However, there's also a chance that the Rams wanted to clear some room at the position in order to dip into this year's deep rookie class of tight ends. In any case, Kendricks should garner some attention on the open market after a strong 50-catch campaign in 2016. He'll be 29 when the season begins.
