The Mets have recalled starting pitcher Collin McHugh and the Astros have recalled starting pitcher Edgar Gonzalez. Both are scheduled to start Labor Day games today.

McHugh made his first major-league start at Citi Field on Aug. 23, holding the Rockies to two hits and one walk in seven scoreless innings while striking out nine batters in a no-decision. He was sent back down to the minors after the debut but returns to face the Cardinals on Monday. McHugh is 7-9 in 25 minor-league starts between Double-A and Triple-A this season with a 2.91 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 135 strikeouts.

Gonzalez will pitch in the majors for the first time this season Monday when he faces the Pirates. Aside from a two-inning relief appearance for the Rockies last season, Gonzalez has not pitched in the majors since Sept. 27, 2009 as a member of the A's. His last win came on April 24, 2008 as a member of the Diamondbacks. For his career, Gonzalez is 14-25 in 107 appearances (41 starts) with a 5.90 ERA and 1.57 WHIP.
