Ben Meyer: Let go by Rockies
The Rockies released Meyer from his minor-league contract June 2.
The 28-year-old right-hander was assigned to Double-A Hartford at the conclusion of minor-league spring training, but he never appeared in a game for the affiliate before getting released. Meyer previously saw action in the majors with Miami in 2018, giving up 22 earned runs over 19 innings. He hasn't fared much better in limited action in the minors since then, making it unlikely that he'll resurface in the big leagues again.

Marlins' Ben Meyer: Reports to Triple-A
Meyer was outrighted to Triple-A New Orleans on Monday.
Meyer, who was designated for assignment last week, will stick in the Marlins' organization after clearing waivers. The 25-year-old righty struggled during his major-league debut in 2018, allowing 23 runs (22 earned) on 26 hits across 19 innings. He also walked more batters (14) than he struck out (nine). As such, Meyer seems likely to serve as organizational pitching depth in 2019.

Marlins' Ben Meyer: Removed from 40-man roster
Meyer was designated from assignment by the Marlins on Tuesday, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.
Meyer was dropped from the Marlins' 40-man roster in order to free up space for a prospect in need of protection from the Rule 5 draft. The 25-year-old right-hander made his major-league debut in 2018, but struggled to a 10.42 ERA, 2.11 WHIP and 9:14 K:BB in 19 innings. He'll head through waivers but it's hard to imagine he'll be claimed.

Marlins' Ben Meyer: Called up from New Orleans
Meyer was recalled from Triple-A New Orleans on Friday, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.
Meyer will head back to the big leagues in order to provide a fresh arm in the bullpen. The Marlins were forced to put Jarlin Garcia (ankle) and Elieser Hernandez (blister) on the DL in corresponding moves, while also reinstating Kyle Barraclough (back). Across nine appearances with Miami this year, Meyer has logged an 8.22 ERA and 1.76 WHIP.

Meyer was sent down to Triple-A New Orleans on Tuesday, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.
Meyer was cast off the active roster after a pair of dreadful performances in the last 10 days, including Tuesday's contest against Washington during which he allowed four earned runs on four hits and a pair of walks in one inning of relief. In a corresponding move, the club recalled Jarlin Garcia from the minors.

Meyer was selected to the big club after Tayron Guerrero (back) was moved to the disabled list. Meyer figures to be used out of the bullpen and has made four appearances for Miami this season, posting a 3.38 ERA and 1.25 WHIP with three strikeouts across eight innings.

He managed a 3.38 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and three strikeouts in eight innings (four appearances) with the big-league club. Meyer was sent down to make room for Saturday's starter, Pablo Lopez, who is making his big-league debut.

Marlins' Ben Meyer: Mops up in loss
Meyer worked four innings in long relief during the Marlins' 5-3 loss to the Diamondbacks on Tuesday. He gave up three runs (two earned) on two hits and three walks and struck out two.
With Caleb Smith (shoulder) and Jose Urena (shoulder) both on the disabled list, the Marlins have two openings in their rotation for Friday and Saturday against the Mets. Meyer was considered a candidate to receive one of the starting assignments after being recalled from Triple-A New Orleans in a corresponding move for Smith, but that's likely now off the table following the right-hander's extended usage out of the bullpen Tuesday. In fact, it wouldn't be surprising if Meyer were sent back to New Orleans in the near future in order for the Marlins to add a fresh arm to the staff.

Marlins' Ben Meyer: Recalled from Triple-A
Meyer was recalled from Triple-A New Orleans on Sunday, Craig Mish of Sirius XM reports.
Caleb Smith (shoulder) was placed on the disabled list, and with the Marlins' rotation severely depleted by injuries, Meyer was promoted to provide some length out of the bullpen. Since he had been working as a starter at Triple-A, he will be capable of pitching multiple innings in his appearances out of the MLB bullpen. Meyer had a 4.27 ERA, a 1.27 WHIP and a 42:15 K:BB in 52.2 innings at Triple-A.

Meyer will be optioned to Triple-A New Orleans on Friday, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.
Meyer pitched a pair of scoreless innings in Thursday's extra-innings loss to the Giants, so he'll be swapped out for a fresh reliever prior to Friday's series opener against the Orioles. The 25-year-old hasn't allowed a run through three innings since earning a promotion from Triple-A New Orleans on June 6, so he should be afforded another opportunity with the big club sooner than later.
