There is nothing certain when it comes to quarterback evaluation. Leading up to the draft, different quarterbacks will be profiled in different ways and you'll see some crazy comparisons.

Right now the debate between Carson Wentz and Jared Goff is simmering, with both considered early first-round options, but neither is seen as a lock to be franchise QBs.

The impression Wentz left on former Buccaneers coach turned ESPN analyst Jon Gruden during his "QB Camp" is notable, however.

"I think [Wentz is] the most NFL-ready quarterback we've had in here in the last couple of years," Gruden said.

Here is obviously the Gruden QB Camp. So there's a smaller number of players being compared. That being said, the list of guys Gruden's brought in before is huge.

Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, Russell Wilson, Cam Newton, Teddy Bridgewater and Derek Carr are all quarterbacks who appeared on previous editions of Gruden's QB Camp.

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Media Group notes that Gruden is not alone in this assessment of Wentz.

During the 2016 NFL combine, Mike Mayock compared Wentz to Luck, a stunning comparison when you consider how highly thought of Luck was coming into the draft and how completely unknown Wentz was up until like two months ago.

"When I look at him, I see a kid that's as athletic or more athletic than Andrew Luck,'' Mayock said on a conference call. "He's bigger than Andrew Luck. He's got arm strength comparable to Andrew Luck. He just doesn't have the experience that Andrew Luck had at a high level that Andrew had coming out of college. So I see a ceiling for this kid similar to Andrew Luck.

"That's why I believe in this kid so much. But it's going to take a little bit of time."

It's crazy praise for someone who wasn't even on the radar during the actual college football season. The NFL Draft is a wild process. And it could very well result in Wentz becoming a top-five NFL pick. Worst case looks like top-10, with all five of our 2016 NFL mock drafts projecting him either to the Browns at No. 2 or the 49ers at No. 7.

Carson Wentz is very 'pro ready' according to Jon Gruden. (USATSI)
