PGATOUR.COM Offers Live Streaming From 15th Hole During Early Rounds Of Canon Greater Hartford Open

Players "Go for the Green" as Live@ series continues innovative Internet coverage

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL (June 25, 2001) - The risk/reward nature of the 15th hole at the Tournament Players Club at River Highlands is the dramatic setting for Live@ the 15th from the Canon Greater Hartford Open. Online viewers will be able to tune in live as the field of 156 golfers decides whether or not to challenge the driveable 296-yard, par 4 during the first and second rounds at the 50th Canon GHO on June 28th and 29th.

The 15th hole is considered one of the most intriguing holes on the PGA TOUR. Accessed through www.pgatour.com, Live@ the 15th from the Canon GHO, provides compelling action as contestants can try to reach the green for a possible eagle putt or face the consequences of an errant tee shot. At the 2000 tournament, Mark Calcavecchia made a final-round eagle on the hole to challenge for the lead.

Coverage on both days begins at 10 a.m. and continues through 4 p.m. EDT. Users also will have the chance to see players warm-up each day, by way of a down-range camera following players on the practice tee.

Another feature of the coverage is a sweepstakes sponsored by Palm, Incorporated. Participants will guess how far from the cup the closest tee shot is on the 15th hole. The distance will be determined by "PinPoint" powered by ShotLink/IBM. Once the player's tee shot lands, a laser beam measures distance from the tee and the distance to the pin to within one inch. This information is entered on Palm handhelds and relayed to users via the Internet. Internet users who register before the start of play, will be able to submit their guesses on the closest drives to the pin. Correct guesses are entered into a drawing to win one of several Palm VII units.

Live@ the 15th from the Canon GHO is being sponsored by Palm. The event will be streamed by iBEAM Broadcasting®, a leading provider of streaming communications solutions, using their Activecast™ technology. Dedicated cameras will provide the coverage for Live@ the 15th from the Canon GHO with audio play-by-play provided by PGA TOUR Radio.

The Canon Greater Hartford Open is being televised by ESPN on Thursday and Friday from 2-4 p.m. EDT with coverage on ABC from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday and 3-6 p.m. on Sunday.

"We are continuing to enhance the PGA TOUR fan experience in new ways," said Donna Orender, PGA TOUR Senior Vice President of Television, Productions and New Media. "We are especially excited to provide the end-user with multiple viewing options and information as well as the 'PinPoint' component powered by ShotLink/IBM. The Internet component enhances and adds dimension to the coverage by our broadcast partner ESPN."
