The 2022 National Invitation Tournament should draw more attention on Tuesday with the NIT quarterfinals tipping off. The NIT title obviously isn't the sport's top prize, but it is a notable achievement and one the eight remaining teams are striving to complete. Winning the NIT can sometimes equate to future success. Memphis reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament this past weekend after winning the NIT last year, while 2012 champ Baylor and 2006 winner West Virginia both reached the NCAA's Sweet 16 the following year. The Tuesday NIT schedule features St. Bonaventure taking on Virginia at 7 p.m. ET, followed by second-seeded Xavier against No. 4 seed Vanderbilt at 9 p.m. ET.

Four of Sunday's five games were upsets, with three No. 1 seeds going down. Virginia and Xavier are both favored by 3.5 points in the latest 2022 NIT odds from Caesars Sportsbook. If you correctly predict which side of the spread will hit, you can cash in big, especially if you combine the picks into a parlay. Top NIT picks for Tuesday

One team the model is backing for the Tuesday NIT parlay is Xavier, which it says covers the 3.5-point spread against Vanderbilt almost 60 percent of the time. The Musketeers just routed a Florida team that beat the Commodores twice this season (once by 19 points). Xavier also is a much more balanced team, with five players scoring in double figures for the season, led by 7-footer Jack Nunge. He scores 13.4, pulls down 7.4 rebounds and blocks 1.4 shots per game.

The Musketeers also average three more rebounds and two fewer turnovers, and they outscore opponents by five, compared to Vandy's two-point margin. The Commodores average just 69.5 points per game, while Xavier scores 73.7. Nate Johnson is a threat from outside for the Musketeers, hitting 38 percent from 3-point range, while the Vandy offense relies strongly on Scotty Pippen Jr. (20.3 points per game). If Xavier shuts him down, there are few other options.
