Zastryzny will serve as the Pirates' opening pitcher Thursday versus the Cubs.
This will be Zastryzny's first major-league start since 2016, though he'll probably only work an inning or two before giving way to bulk pitcher Andre Jackson. Zastryzny, 31, has allowed 13 runs (10 earned) through 17 major-league frames in 2023.
