Valdez allowed three hits and struck out three over 2.2 innings in Friday's 5-1 loss to the Yankees.
Valdez was brought in during the fourth inning after starter Ryan Weber was chased. It was his third appearance -- all scoreless -- this season, although none occurred in high-leverage spots. In addition to his early entry Friday, Valdez twice entered for mop-up duty.
