There was no risk that the club would give up control of its fifth-round pick, but he could have been placed on the practice squad to begin the year. Instead, the 49ers opted to release veteran wideout Jeremy Kerley, opening up a an opportunity for Taylor to earn a slot receiving role this season. The 23-year-old rookie displayed good hands and an ability to return punts this preseason. While his exact spot on the depth chart has yet to be determined, there is certainly PPR potential if Taylor mans the slot in Kyle Shanahan's quick-hitting passing attack.
