The Browns have promoted Kevin Hogan ahead of Kessler for the backup quarterback job, Mary Kat Cabot of Cleveland.com reports.
Kessler was at one point considered the favorite to start Week 1, but he now figures to be inactive. The Browns will allow DeShone Kizer to work through any struggles this season.
