Poyer (kidney) was placed on injured reserve on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

As expected, the safety was placed on the IR after being taken to the hospital due to vicious hit he received in Sunday's loss to the Titans. He was diagnosed with a lacerated kidney, which takes around four months to recover from, so the team decided to effectively end the 25-year-old's season. In his fifth season, Poyer recorded 39 tackles and two passes defensed in six games, one of the lone bright spots on an abyssal Cleveland squad. The Browns have limited secondary depth, and with Poyer now out, the team could be in market for a free agent to take over at free safety.
