McMillan (hamstring) will compete to retain a starting role during training camp, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.
McMillan and Vince Biegel are considered the early favorites for the other linebacker spots up for grabs alongside locked-in starters Kyle Van Noy and Jerome Baker. However, the Dolphins more than occasionally deployed five or more defensive backs in 2019, a pattern which could once again lead to regular two-linebacker sets. In the event that McMillan, who still has to overcome his weakness in coverage, is unable to cement himself as the clear No. 3 option and instead splits reps with Biegel, it would significantly dampen his value in IDP formats for 2020.
