Penny agreed to a one-year, $5.75 million contract with the Seahawks on Sunday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Penny's injury issues marred the first three seasons of his career, and he played only three games during the first half of 2021 due to a calf issue before breaking out down the stretch. The 26-year-old finished with 119 carries for 749 yards and six touchdowns as he flashed his first-round potential, leading to another year with the Seahawks. Chris Carson is expected to be ready for training camp after missing most of last season with a neck issue, and he and Penny figure to split Seattle's backfield work for 2022 if both can stay healthy.
