Collins announced his retirement from the NFL on Friday, Daniel Chavkin of SI.com reports. "It hasn't hit me yet, but I'm officially retired," Collins said in announcing his retirement. The 33-year-old played 10 seasons in the league, tallying a career-best 115 tackles in 2014 for the Patriots and peaking with seven sacks in 2019 in his return to New England. Collins also made one All-Pro team and one Pro Bowl, both in 2015. He spent most of last year on the Patriots' practice squad.... See More ... See Less

Jamie Collins: Returns to Patriots
Collins was signed by the Patriots on Monday, Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald reports. It's unclear whether Collins will report to the practice or the active roster, but the linebacker is returning for a fourth stint with the Patriots. Collins appeared in 10 games with New England last year, registering 20 tackles, including a sack, while also intercepting a pass and deflecting three others.... See More ... See Less -
Patriots' Jamie Collins: Limited Thursday
Collins (ankle) was a limited participant at Thursday's practice. The linebacker popped up on the Patriots' injury report Wednesday with an ankle issue, but he was able to practice in a limited capacity Thursday. Collins will now enter the Patriots' wild-card game against the Bills with a questionable designation, and if he can't play, Josh Uche would likely step into a larger role.... See More ... See Less -
Patriots' Jamie Collins: Returns to practice
Collins (ankle) was spotted practicing Wednesday, Zack Cox of NESN.com reports. With the linebacker returning to practice for the first time since going on IR prior to the team's Week 10 matchup, the Patriots have a 21-day window to restore him to their active roster. Otherwise, he will be forced to miss the remainder of the season. Collins has played a minor role in his five games since joining the Patriots, recording seven tackles, a sack and an interception.... Patriots' Jamie Collins: Nursing ankle injury
Collins didn't participate at Wednesday's practice due to an ankle injury, Zack Cox of NESN.com reports. Collins apparently picked up the injury during Sunday's win over the Panthers while totaling two tackles and an interception in 16 defensive snaps. The 32-year-old will likely need to practice in some capacity Thursday or Friday to have a chance of suiting up this weekend versus Cleveland.... See More ... See Less -
Lions' Jamie Collins: Misses practice Wednesday
Collins (neck) did not practice Wednesday, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports. The Lions didn't hold practice Tuesday, but Collins was listed as an estimated DNP for that session as well. Given that this is a short week for Detroit -- they play Tampa Bay on Saturday -- logging at least a limited session Thursday could be crucial for Collins' chances of suiting up. Reggie Ragland would likely start in Collins' place if the latter is unable to play Saturday.... See More ... See Less -
Lions' Jamie Collins: Paces team in tackles
Collins registered a team-high nine total tackles during Sunday's 34-20 loss to the Vikings. Collins continues to rack up impressive totals, as the two-time Super Bowl champion has now accumulated eight or more tackles over four of his past five game appearances. The 31-year-old also has one interception to his name in 2020, though Collins has otherwise been unable to generate another takeaway over eight appearances. Inability to force turnovers has plagued the Lions defense, as the unit currently is tied for 29th in takeaways and 28th in points allowed per game.... See More ... See Less -
Lions' Jamie Collins: Totals nine tackles
Collins logged nine tackles during Sunday's 35-29 loss to the Saints. Detroit played some its best defense of the season Sunday against a solid Saints offense, and Collins played a large role in any success the unit had. Considering the 29-year-old has the potential to contribute in run support, as a pass-rusher or in pass coverage, Collins should remain an interesting IDP prospect throughout the year.... Lions' Jamie Collins: Reaches quarterback Sunday
Collins recorded five tackles, two for a loss, and a sack across across 56 defensive snaps in Sunday's loss to the Packers. Collins rebounded nicely against Green Bay after being ejected from Week 1's contest due to an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. He recorded his first sack in a Lions uniform, taking down Aaron Rodgers for a loss of 11 yards. At 56 defensive snaps, Collins logged the second-most reps among linebackers for Detroit.... Lions' Jamie Collins: Won't face suspension
Collins won't be suspended after being ejected from Sunday's loss to the Bears, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Collins' helmet made contact with an official in the first half, and he was promptly ejected with an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. The league determined that it wasn't severe enough for Collins to miss additional time, so he'll be ready for Week 2's matchup versus Green Bay. Collins was impressive before the ejection, recording three tackles, a pass breakup and a QB hit.... See More ... See Less -
Patriots' Jamie Collins: Questionable for Saturday
Collins (shoulder) is officially listed as questionable for Saturday's playoff game against the Titans. Collins practiced on a limited basis for the third straight day Thursday. The starting linebacker managed to play through his shoulder injury both Week 16 and Week 17, and he looks to be heading in the same direction for Saturday's wild-card game.... See More ... Patriots' Jamie Collins: Sheds shoulder injury
Collins (shoulder) is active for Saturday's game against the Bills. Collins managed to practice on a limited basis in consecutive days so it seemed likely the veteran would ultimately be able to play. He'll resume his role as a starting linebacker for the Patriots.... See More ... See Less -
Patriots' Jamie Collins: Surfaces on injury report
Collins (shoulder) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Doug Kyed of NESN.com reports. Collins wasn't listed on Tuesday's injury report, so this is a new condition. It's a positive sign that he didn't miss practice entirely ahead of Saturday's crucial divisional showdown against the Bills. Shilique Calhoun is waiting in the wings in case Collins can't go.... Patriots' Jamie Collins: Excels in pass rush
Collins made seven tackles (five solo), two sacks and a pass breakup in Sunday's 30-14 win over the Jets. Collins now leads the team with 19 tackles and 2.5 sacks. The veteran linebacker isn't even considered a starter on the Patriots' defense, making his early success that much more impressive. However, starter Dont'a Hightower (shoulder) was injured during Sunday's game, so Collins could be a top IDP pickup this week heading into next Sunday's contest versus the Bills.... See More ... Patriots' Jamie Collins: Return to New England official
Collins officially agreed to a contract with the Patriots on Wednesday, Jim McBride of The Boston Globe reports. The terms of the deal weren't disclosed, but Collins will rejoin the Patriots for at least the 2019 season. The 29-year-old is expected to be present for on-field work as soon as Thursday in preparation for what could be a heavy workload as an off-ball linebacker for a defense that coach Bill Belichick is expected to coordinate in 2019. Collins averaged over seven tackles per game in his prior three seasons with the Patriots from 2014 to 2016, which would prorate to 116 tackles over a 16-game slate.... See More ... See Less -
Jamie Collins: Cut by Cleveland
Collins was released by the Browns on Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Collins was on the trade block but Cleveland couldn't find any takers. His release provides the Browns with roughly $9 million in cap relief this offseason as the team prepares for the start of free agency March 13. The 29-year-old logged 104 tackles and four sacks in 16 games for the Browns last season and should have little trouble garnering free-agent interest from teams looking for help at outside linebacker.... See More ... See Less -
Browns' Jamie Collins: Records sack in win
Collins notched six solo tackles and a sack in Sunday's 17-16 win over the Broncos. Collins' third sack of the year gives him his highest total in four seasons. His 92 tackles are also his highest mark since that same 2015 season in New England. The 28-year-old will try to break triple digits for just the second time in his career at home Week 16 against Cincinnati.... See More ... See Less -
Browns' Jamie Collins: Misses practice with ankle sprain
Collins is dealing with a sprained ankle that held him out of Wednesday's practice, but he's expected to return for Thursday's session, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Collins posted seven tackles (six solo) in Week 9 against the Chiefs, but it appears he may have suffered a minor ankle issue along the way. If he's able to rejoin practice Thursday as expected, there probably won't be a ton of concern regarding his status for Sunday's matchup with the Falcons.... See More ... See Less -
Browns' Jamie Collins: Tallies 11 tackles in loss
Collins recorded 11 tackles (four solo) and forced a fumble in Sunday's loss to the Steelers. Collins has been a quality player for the Browns but hasn't put up top-tier numbers. His 11 tackles Sunday made for his second double-digit performance of the year in the category. Looking ahead, Collins and the Browns will face off against the Chiefs in Week 9.... See More ... Browns' Jamie Collins: Should be ready for camp
Browns head coach Hue Jackson said Wednesday that he expects Collins (knee) to be 100 percent healthy for training camp, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports. Collins tore the MCL in his right knee last November, resulting in him spending more than half the season on injured reserve. After more than six months of rehab and recovery, Collins has progressed as expected and should be a full participant in practices during the summer. Jackson also expressed a desire to have Collins compete in 11-on-11 sessions during minicamp in a couple weeks, though a decision on that front doesn't appear to have been made quite yet. Regardless, Collins shouldn't miss any substantial time heading into the 2018 season if he avoids setbacks the rest of the summer.... See More ... See Less
