Campbell recorded six tackles (five solo) in Sunday's 38-3 loss to the Saints. Campbell did not land with Green Bay until June, but he played a key role for his new squad out of the gate, starting at middle linebacker alongside Krys Barnes and playing nine more snaps than any other Packers linebacker. His six stops in Week 1 trailed only Barnes and safety Adrian Amos among Packers defenders.
Campbell signed a contract with the Packers on Tuesday, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports. The 2016 fourth-round pick spent his first four seasons in Atlanta before totaling 99 tackles (70 solo) with two sacks, three passes defensed and a forced fumble in 16 games for the Cardinals last year. Campbell could beat out incumbents Kamal Martin and Krys Barnes and carve out a sizable role at inside linebacker in Green Bay.
Campbell compiled 99 tackles (69 solo, seven for loss), three pass defenses, two sacks and one forced fumble in 16 appearances during the 2020 campaign. Campbell landed in Arizona last offseason on the heels of a career-high 129 tackles with the Falcons in 2019. While his production was more in line with his 2017 and 2018 seasons, he also was competing for stops with Budda Baker and Jordan Hicks, both of whom accrued 118 tackles on the year. Campbell's contract voids as of Feb. 12, so it'll be interesting to see if he stays in the desert or moves on to a different organization.
Campbell (ankle) was a limited participant during Thursday's practice, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports. Campbell missed practice completely Wednesday, so this news offers reason for optimism with respect to his chances of playing in Sunday's game against the Eagles. Campbell only saw action in 45 percent of defensive snaps in Sunday's win over the Giants, a sign the injury could hamper his snap count going forward. Rookie Isaiah Simmons would be in line for a start at inside linebacker should Campbell miss Sunday's game against the Eagles.
Campbell (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday. The ankle injury is a new one for Campbell, who has previously battled a calf injury this season. He has racked up 80 tackles this season for the Cardinals, and the linebacker will hope to heal up in time to face the Giants on Sunday.
