Leonard Fournette will once again be in the starting lineup for the Buccaneers. The running back known as "Playoff Lenny" will start in place of Ronald Jones for Tampa Bay's Week 3 matchup in Los Angeles against the Rams, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Fournette started the Buccaneers' season-opening victory over the Cowboys before reprising his role as Jones' backup during Tampa Bay's Week 2 win over the Falcons. He had 67 all-purpose yards against the Cowboys and had 76 total yards against Atlanta. Jones, who suffered a fumble against the Cowboys, has just 50 yards on 11 total touches through two games.
The fourth overall pick in the 2017 draft, Fournette is in the middle of his second season with the Buccaneers. Including last year's Super Bowl run, Tampa Bay is 8-0 with Fournette in the starting lineup. During the 2020 postseason, Fournette rushed for 300 yards and three touchdowns in four games. He also had 148 receiving yards that included a touchdown reception in the Saints' divisional round playoff victory over the Saints. Fournette's 135 all-purpose yards in Super Bowl LV included a 27-yard touchdown run that helped propel the Buccaneers to a 31-9 win over the Chiefs.
Fournette and the Buccaneers will face a Rams defense that is 20th in the NFL in rushing yards allowed through two games. They were able to hold Colts running back Jonathan Taylor to just 51 yards on 15 carries in last Sunday's 27-24 win in Indianapolis.
