Delgado recently saw Dr. James Andrews, who confirmed that the right-hander has a flexor strain, Jack Magruder of FanRagSports.com reports.
While the Diamondbacks have not formally ruled Delgado out for the year, he was recently moved to the 60-day DL and it seems like a near certainty that he won't pitch again until 2018. Assuming he's healthy, Delgado will be in good position to earn a long-relief role in spring training after posting a 3.59 ERA and 1.18 WHIP over 62.2 innings this season.
