Diaz was optioned to Triple-A El Paso on Saturday.
Diaz has been shuffled between the Padres and Triple-A El Paso recently, and he didn't make any appearances during his most recent stint with the major-league club. Left-hander Ryan Weathers (ankle) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move.
