Schwarber misplayed a groundball at first base that led to three unearned runs in Monday's 5-4 loss to the Mariners.
Schwarber is relatively new to first base, and the seventh-inning miscue proved to be costly as the Red Sox slipped into a tie for the second and final wild-card spot in the AL. It was his fourth game at first base, all coming within the last two weeks.
