The Dolphins selected Howard in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft, 38th overall.

Howard (6-0, 201) stumbled a bit at the Combine, logging a 4.58-second 40-yard dash and 33-inch vertical, but he improved drastically at the Baylor pro day, running a 4.44 40 and improving his vertical to 38.5 inches. Howard's film isn't as good as the other corners to get drafted to this point, but if his pro day numbers are an accurate insight into his athleticism, he should possess similar upside. He in any case has the size and athleticism to develop into a starting NFL corner, which Miami needs.
