Cobb (groin) was placed on injured reserve Saturday.
This was the next logical step for the Packers after Cobb underwent core muscle surgery last week that is expected to keep him out for a significant amount of time. This move will force Cobb to miss at least the next three weeks, at which point he will be able to return to practice for a 21-day window before the team must activate him back to the 53-man roster. The veteran wideout, whom the Packers traded a sixth-round pick to the Texans to acquire, suffered the injury in the team's Week 12 win over the Rams. Cobb is currently the team's third-leading receiver with 28 receptions and 375 receiving yards on 39 targets (also tied for third-most on the team). Cobb's absence should open up more opportunities for wide receivers Allen Lazard and Equanimeous St. Brown out of the slot.
