  • Carlos Hyde: Let go by Jaguars

The Jaguars have released Hyde (concussion). Per John Shipley of SI.com, the move provides the Jaguars with $1.9 million in cap savings, while adding on $450,000 in dead money. This past season, Hyde worked behind top back James Robinson, recording 72 carries for 253 yards and a touchdown as well as 12 catches for 65 yards on 22 targets in 12 games. The 31-year-old will now look to catch on elsewhere as a depth backfield option.

  • Jaguars' Carlos Hyde: Shut down for season

Jacksonville will place Hyde (concussion) on injured reserve Tuesday, ending his season, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports. Hyde was diagnosed with the concussion coming out of Jacksonville's Week 14 loss to Tennessee and wasn't able to practice in any fashion last week before he was ruled out in advance of Sunday's 30-16 loss to Houston. With the running back making slow progress through the five-step concussion protocol, Jacksonville will deactivate him to open up a roster spot rather than waiting on Hyde to recover. The 31-year-old concludes his first season with the Jaguars with 72 carries for 253 yards and a touchdown to go with 12 receptions for 65 yards on 22 targets across 12 games. Dare Ogunbowale is in line to serve as the primary understudy to top back James Robinson over the final three games of the season with Hyde out of the picture.

  • Jaguars' Carlos Hyde: Won't play Sunday

Hyde (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Texans, John Shipley of SI.com reports. Hyde will miss his second game of the season after suffering the concussion during last week's loss to the Titans. James Robinson will continue to work as the starting tailback for Jacksonville, while Dare Ogunbowale is set to fill in as the No. 2 option versus Houston.

  • Jaguars' Carlos Hyde: Still sitting Thursday

Hyde (concussion) didn't participate at Thursday's practice. Hyde sat out practice for the second straight day after entering the concussion protocols. Dare Ogunbowale is poised to take over as Jacksonville's No. 2 tailback behind starter James Robinson if Hyde is unable to play Sunday against the Texans.

  • Jaguars' Carlos Hyde: Placed in concussion protocol

Hyde isn't practicing Wednesday after he was diagnosed with a concussion, Mark Long of the Associated Press reports. Hyde took one carry for two yards and caught one of two targets for six yards during Sunday's blowout loss to the Titans. Though the Jaguars didn't announce that he suffered an injury in that contest, he was placed in the concussion protocol upon being evaluated afterward. In order for him to be eligible to play Week 15 against Houston, Hyde will need to gain clearance for contact and get approval from an independent neurologist. Dare Ogunbowale would step in as the No. 2 option behind top running back James Robinson if Hyde can't play Sunday.

  • Jaguars' Carlos Hyde: Reverts to minor role

Hyde had one carry for two yards and caught one of two targets for six yards during Sunday's 20-0 loss to the Titans. Hyde out-touched any other Jags running back and scored a touchdown last week after starter James Robinson lost a fumble, but Robinson reclaimed the primary role Sunday to minimal success (six touches for four yards). Hyde played only 12 offensive snaps in the blowout loss and remains nothing more than a security blanket for fantasy managers should Robinson suffer an injury.

  • Jaguars' Carlos Hyde: Sees playing time boost

Hyde ran for 24 yards and one touchdown on nine carries and caught his lone target for minus-1 yard Sunday in the Jaguars' 37-7 loss to the Rams. Hyde took over the Jaguars backfield for a time following a first-quarter fumble by starter James Robinson, though Hyde was less effective from scrimmage (23 yards on 10 touches) than Robinson (35 yards on nine touches). Hyde also lost his own fumble, so the Jaguars gained nothing by making the switch. Robinson is a better player than Hyde, so Hyde should normally get the scraps between the two, but Sunday's bleak showing from Jacksonville is a reminder of the team's futility.

  • Jaguars' Carlos Hyde: Minimal role in loss

Hyde failed to catch his lone target during Sunday's 30-10 loss to the 49ers. Hyde played 14 offensive snaps and didn't have a touch Sunday, and his target didn't come until the fourth quarter. The 31-year-old remains Jacksonville's No. 2 tailback given no other back saw any offensive reps, but he's strictly an insurance policy while James Robinson is available to play.

  • Jaguars' Carlos Hyde: Cleared for Week 11

Hyde (shoulder) was a full participant in Friday's practice and doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game against the 49ers. Meanwhile, top back James Robinson (heel/knee) remained limited in practice for the second straight day and is listed as questionable for the matchup. The bruised heel prevented Robinson from playing in the Jaguars' Week 9 win over the Bills, but he returned to action Week 10 and played 58 percent of the offensive snaps while getting 16 touches in Jacksonville's loss to the Colts. Since head coach Urban Meyer didn't suggest that he experienced any setbacks in practice this week, Robinson appears on track to lead the Jacksonville backfield Sunday, so Hyde will likely remain the No. 2 option. Despite Robinson handling a less-than-full workload last week, Hyde played only 18 snaps against Indianapolis and carried twice for four yards while hauling in one of two targets for no gain.

  • Jaguars' Carlos Hyde: Another limited practice

Hyde (shoulder) remained limited at practice Thursday. Hyde presumably will need to practice fully Friday in order to avoid an injury designation in advance of Sunday's game against the 49ers. Either way, his fantasy prospects this weekend are linked to the status of lead back James Robinson (heel/knee), who returned to a limited session Thursday after being sidelined Wednesday.

  • Jaguars' Carlos Hyde: Logs limited session

Hyde was a limited participant at practice Wednesday due to a shoulder injury. The Jaguars haven't revealed whether Hyde's shoulder issue is anything that might affect his availability for Sunday's game against the 49ers, but in any case, the running back's Week 11 fantasy prospects are tied to the status of lead back James Robinson (heel/knee), who sat out Wednesday's practice. Thursday's injury report should add a degree of clarity with regard to both Hyde and Robinson's chances of suiting up this weekend.

  • Jaguars' Carlos Hyde: Limited role Week 10

Hyde had two carries for four yards and caught one of two targets for zero yards during Sunday's 23-17 loss at Indianapolis. Hyde ended up receiving the start Sunday, but James Robinson dominated the snaps in his return from a one-game absence due to a heel injury. Coach Urban Meyer indicated Hyde may see more involvement than usual given Robinson was coming off the injury, but that didn't prove to be the case. The veteran tailback remains nothing more than a potential handcuff for Robinson.

  • Jaguars' Carlos Hyde: Robinson active, set for No. 2 role

Hyde may still have a heavier workload than usual despite James Robinson (heel) being active for Sunday's game against the Colts, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports. Robinson will play after being considered a game-time decision, but Hyde could still see more involvement in the offense. Hyde had only 24 carries for 108 yards and two receptions for 14 yards in five games with Robinson healthy, so a bigger workload doesn't necessary mean the veteran will be a worthwhile fantasy option.

  • Jaguars' Carlos Hyde: Busy but inefficient

Hyde ran for 67 yards on 21 carries against Buffalo on Sunday, adding a six-yard catch on two targets. Hyde was not especially effective, but he deserves some credit for taking up the thankless task of running into the teeth of a strong Buffalo defense 20-plus times as James Robinson (heel) sat out. The Jaguars were completely unable to throw the ball, so Hyde had the bullseye on him all game, and his otherwise plodding numbers provided a stabilizing presence for the Jaguars in the 9-6 upset. It's not clear whether Robinson will be able to play against the Colts in Week 10, but Hyde will continue to be the next man up until Robinson's return.

  • Jaguars' Carlos Hyde: Set to start Sunday

Hyde is expected to start at running back Sunday against the Bills since James Robinson (heel) is inactive. Hyde had nine carries for 32 yards and caught six of eight targets for 40 yards after Robinson exited last week's contest with the injury, and Hyde is now set to operate as the Jaguars' lead tailback Sunday. Dare Ogunbowale may also be involved on some passing downs, but it should be Hyde leading the way out of the backfield for Jacksonville versus Buffalo.

  • Jaguars' Carlos Hyde: Clear of injury designation

Hyde (calf) was a full practice participant Friday and doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Bills. The 31-year-old was a limited participant Wednesday due to the calf issue, but he was able to log full practices Thursday and Friday. James Robinson (heel) is considered questionable for Sunday's contest, and if he's inactive Hyde is poised to serve as the Jaguars' lead tailback.

  • Jaguars' Carlos Hyde: Logs limited practice

Hyde was limited at practice Wednesday with a calf injury. Hyde's health status gains added import, with top back James Robinson having sat out the session due to a heel issue that clouds his Week 9 availability. At this stage, Hyde's own injury appears to be a lesser concern than Robinson's, but the former will still likely need to upgrade to full activity by the end of the week to approach Sunday's game against the Bills without an injury designation. If he does, Hyde could be in store for a sizable role out of the backfield in the event Robinson sits out or is limited.

  • Jaguars' Carlos Hyde: Busy as injury replacement

Hyde ran for 32 yards on nine carries and caught six receptions for 40 yards on eight targets against Seattle on Sunday. Jacksonville was such a mess that this game almost immediately turned to garbage time, and that outcome was perhaps slightly precipitated by a heel injury suffered by starting running back James Robinson. It's not clear what Robinson's status is, but if he misses time, then Hyde will likely step in as the starter. The Jaguars have a difficult matchup with Buffalo in Week 9.

  • Jaguars' Carlos Hyde: Nine snaps in win

Hyde failed to catch his lone target during Sunday's 23-20 win over Miami. Hyde didn't receive a carry during Sunday's contest, as James Robinson and Trevor Lawrence were the only Jaguars to run the ball for Jacksonville. It was the first time this season Hyde didn't receive a touch, as he clearly remains nothing more than a handcuff option in case of a potential injury to Robinson.

  • Jaguars' Carlos Hyde: Five touches in loss

Hyde had five carries for 13 yards during Sunday's 37-19 loss to the Titans. James Robinson dominated the backfield work with 19 touches, while Hyde unsurprisingly operated in a secondary role. However, the veteran tailback did receive a goal-line carry on fourth down during the fourth quarter, and he ended up losing three yards. Hyde played 18 offensive snaps and is unlikely to see more than sporadic involvement in the offense while Robinson remains healthy.
