Yankees pitcher Masahiro Tanaka is nearing the three-week mark from a platelet-rich plasma injection and is starting to feel "better and better," manager Joe Girardi told MLB.com on Monday.
Tanaka stayed in New York for treatment while the team traveled to Texas to start a road trip. Tanaka went on the DL on July 9 with right elbow inflammation and a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament. He's hoping to avoid Tommy John surgery. He posted a 2.51 ERA over 129 1/3 innings prior to the injury.
