  • John Brown: Moves back to practice squad

Brown reverted to the Bills' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Brown made his fourth appearance of the season for Buffalo during Sunday's wild-card win over Miami. The veteran wideout was sparingly used on offense over his previous three games, though he saw his most significant usage of the season in this postseason tilt, playing 21 of the Bills' 74 offensive snaps behind Stefon Diggs (59), Gabe Davis (56), Cole Beasley (31) and Khalil Shakir (30) with slot receiver Isaiah McKenzie (hamstring) inactive. Brown logged one target with a deep shot to the end zone down the right side, but the pass was intercepted by Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard. The 32-year-old Brown could stand to see additional, albeit limited, playing time if McKenzie remains sidelined against Cincinnati this coming Sunday.

  • Bills' John Brown: Playoff opportunity ahead

Brown was elevated from the Bills' practice squad Saturday. The Bills have six wideouts that are now eligible to suit up in Sunday's playoff opener against the Dolphins, but Brown is likely to be one of them given his playoff experience coupled with the fact he caught a long TD pass last week, his first catch since the 2020 season.

  • John Brown: Returns to practice squad

Brown reverted to the Bills' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Brown capped off his third practice-squad elevation of the season with a bang. The 32-year-old wideout's six offensive snaps were the lowest of any Bills receiver Week 18, though he capitalized when he caught a 42-yard touchdown pass deep down the right sideline late in the third quarter. This was just Brown's second target of the season and his first reception since the 2020 campaign. He should continue to serve as a deep reserve option for Buffalo so long as wideouts Jake Kumerow (ankle) and Jamison Crowder (ankle) remain on IR during the upcoming playoffs.

  • Bills' John Brown: Called up for regular-season finale

The Bills elevated Brown from the practice squad ahead of Sunday's game against the Patriots. Brown will be elevated from Buffalo's practice squad for the third time this season with wideouts Jake Kumerow (ankle) and Jamison Crowder (ankle) both still on IR. The 32-year-old Brown logged one target over 15 offensive snaps across his previous two appearances this season, so it's unlikely he'll see a significant workload unless Buffalo opts to rest top wideouts Stefon Diggs, Gabe Davis and/or Isaiah McKenzie during the second half of this Week 18 contest, perhaps unlikely with the Bills playing for the No. 2 seed, unless the game starts to get out of hand.

  • John Brown: Heads back to practice squad

Brown reverted to the Bills' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Brown was elevated to Buffalo's active roster for the second week in a row to help fill in with Jake Kumerow (ankle) and Jamison Crowder (ankle) both still on IR. While he logged his first target of the 2022 season, the veteran Brown failed to haul in this pass. He also ended up playing fewer offensive snaps (three) than he did during the Bills' 24-10 win over New England in Week 13 (12). Brown will now be eligible for one more elevation from the team's practice squad this season.

  • Bills' John Brown: Bumps up from practice squad again

The Bills elevated Brown to the active roster Saturday for Sunday's game against the Jets. With wideouts Jamison Crowder (ankle) and Jake Kumerow (ankle) still on injured reserve Week 14, Brown will be brought up from the practice squad for the second game in a row. The 32-year-old totaled at least 33 receptions over six of his first seven seasons, including 72 catches (on 115 targets) for 1,060 yards and six touchdowns with Buffalo in 2019. However, Brown has failed to haul in a target since the 2020 campaign, and he did not log a statistic while playing 12 offensive snaps Week 13 versus New England. He'll now be eligible for one more elevation from the Bills' practice squad this season.

  • Bills' John Brown: Elevated for Week 13

The Bills elevated Brown from their practice squad ahead of Thursday's game against the Patriots. Brown has two seasons of 1,000-plus receiving yards on his resume -- including one with Buffalo in 2019 -- but the 32-year-old wideout hasn't found much recent success while bouncing around the active rosters and practice squads of multiple teams over the last three seasons. He looks as though he could get the chance to make his 2022 debut Thursday while the Bills have three other wideouts on injured reserve (Jamison Crowder, Jake Kumerow and Marquez Stevenson), but Brown likely won't be counted on to play more than a handful of snaps if he's active. Buffalo still has four other receivers on the active roster in Stefon Diggs, Gabe Davis, Isaiah McKenzie and Khalil Shakir, all of whom will presumably be ahead of Brown in the pecking order for reps.

  • John Brown: Reunites with Buffalo

The Bills signed Brown to their practice squad Saturday. Brown's best NFL campaign came with Buffalo in 2019, when he tallied a career-high 72 receptions for 1,060 yards while scoring six touchdowns. His production dropped off the following season, and he failed to record any receptions in 2021 in four games between Denver and Jacksonville. Brown may have a path to Buffalo's active roster with Jake Kumerow (ankle) hitting injured reserve last week.

  • John Brown: Reverts to practice squad

Brown reverted to the Buccaneers' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log. Brown saw five offensive snaps but was never targeted this past Sunday against the Rams. After stints with Oakland, Denver and Jacksonville this season, Brown joined the Buccaneers' practice squad on Jan. 13. With Tampa Bay's season over, Brown will work to rebound from his catch-less 2021 next season.

  • Buccaneers' John Brown: Elevated from practice squad

The Buccaneers elevated Brown from their practice squad Saturday, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports. Brown joined Tampa Bay's practice squad Jan. 13 but didn't join the active roster for last week's wild-card win over Philadelphia. The 31-year-old could carve out a slight role in the passing game if Cyril Grayson (hamstring) is ruled out, but he's unlikely to see a significant target share in Sunday's divisional-round matchup against the Rams.

  • John Brown: Could play in divisional round

Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians suggested Wednesday that Brown could be called up from the practice squad for Sunday's divisional-round game against the Rams, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports. Brown, who previously worked with Arians during their time together in Arizona, signed with the Bucs' practice squad last week but didn't get the call for their wild-card win over the Eagles. It's possible he enters the mix this week, especially if Breshad Perriman has any setbacks with his hip injury and Cyril Grayson is out another week with a hamstring injury. Still, Brown would likely just be in in line for a part-time role after he didn't impress enough to earn an extended stay with any of the Raiders, Broncos or Jaguars earlier this season.

  • John Brown: Remains on practice squad

The Buccaneers didn't elevate Brown from their practice squad ahead of Sunday's wild-card matchup against the Eagles, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports. Brown joined the Buccaneers' practice squad Thursday but won't join the active roster as an additional depth option for Sunday's playoff opener. It's not yet clear whether he'll be elevated if the Buccaneers advance to the divisional round.

  • John Brown: Joins Tampa Bay's practice squad

Brown has been signed to the Buccaneers' practice squad. Brown last caught a regular-season NFL pass in 2020, when he was with the Bills, but he'll give the Buccaneers some added depth at wide receiver in advance of the team's postseason run. With Chris Godwin (knee) on IR, Antonio Brown no longer in the mix and Cyril Grayson dealing with a hamstring issue, it's plausible that John Brown could be promoted to the active roster before long. The 31-year-old wideout thus is reunited with coach Bruce Arians, who worked with Brown for four seasons (2014 through 2017) while the two were with the Cardinals.

  • John Brown: Not with Jaguars anymore

The Jaguars released Brown from their practice squad Monday, John Shipley of SI.com reports. The John Brown experiment has ended after two games as the Jaguars continue to try and find a deep threat at wide receiver. The veteran wideout only played seven snaps for Jacksonville over the last two weeks -- three in Week 11 and four in Week 12 -- and didn't register a single catch despite being targeted twice.

  • Jaguars' John Brown: Elevated to active roster

The Jaguars have elevated Brown to the active roster for Sunday's game against the Falcons, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports. Brown was brought up to the active roster ahead of the team's Week 11 loss to the 49ers, but he played just four offensive snaps. He will likely have a similar role during Sunday's matchup with the Falcons.

Brown was elevated from the Jaguars' practice squad ahead of Sunday's game against the 49ers. • John Brown: Joins Jags' practice squad

Brown was signed to Jacksonville's practice squad Monday. Brown was let go by the Broncos in late October and will now link up with the Jaguars. The 31-year-old was a gameday elevation from the practice squad in two games for Denver and failed to catch his lone target.

  • John Brown: Released Tuesday

Brown was released by the Broncos on Tuesday after he reverted to the practice squad, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports. The wide receiver was active the last two games for the Broncos, failing to reel in a catch with one target over those contests. Brown reverted to the practice following Week 7, and with Jerry Jeudy (ankle) expected to return Week 8, the team decided to cut him loose. The 31-year-old will now search for a new squad going into middle of the regular season.

  • Broncos' John Brown: Catchless in loss

Brown failed to secure his only target in Thursday's 17-14 loss to the Browns. Brown was elevated from the Broncos' practice squad ahead of Thursday's matchup with the Browns, but the veteran ended up playing on just six of the team's 50 offensive snaps. The wideout's only target in the contest was a shot into the end zone early in the second quarter, but quarterback Teddy Bridgewater's pass was intercepted. Brown was signed by Denver to provide depth at the wide receiver position, but he will likely struggle to see much playing time as Jerry Jeudy is set to make his return from an ankle injury in Week 8. Next up for Denver is a matchup with Washington on Oct. 31.
