  • John Brown: Reverts to practice squad

Brown reverted to the Buccaneers' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.

Brown saw five offensive snaps but was never targeted this past Sunday against the Rams. After stints with Oakland, Denver and Jacksonville this season, Brown joined the Buccaneers' practice squad on Jan. 13. With Tampa Bay's season over, Brown will work to rebound from his catch-less 2021 next season.

  • Buccaneers' John Brown: Elevated from practice squad

The Buccaneers elevated Brown from their practice squad Saturday, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.

Brown joined Tampa Bay's practice squad Jan. 13 but didn't join the active roster for last week's wild-card win over Philadelphia. The 31-year-old could carve out a slight role in the passing game if Cyril Grayson (hamstring) is ruled out, but he's unlikely to see a significant target share in Sunday's divisional-round matchup against the Rams.

  • John Brown: Could play in divisional round

Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians suggested Wednesday that Brown could be called up from the practice squad for Sunday's divisional-round game against the Rams, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.

Brown, who previously worked with Arians during their time together in Arizona, signed with the Bucs' practice squad last week but didn't get the call for their wild-card win over the Eagles. It's possible he enters the mix this week, especially if Breshad Perriman has any setbacks with his hip injury and Cyril Grayson is out another week with a hamstring injury. Still, Brown would likely just be in in line for a part-time role after he didn't impress enough to earn an extended stay with any of the Raiders, Broncos or Jaguars earlier this season.

  • John Brown: Remains on practice squad

The Buccaneers didn't elevate Brown from their practice squad ahead of Sunday's wild-card matchup against the Eagles, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.

Brown joined the Buccaneers' practice squad Thursday but won't join the active roster as an additional depth option for Sunday's playoff opener. It's not yet clear whether he'll be elevated if the Buccaneers advance to the divisional round.

  • John Brown: Joins Tampa Bay's practice squad

Brown has been signed to the Buccaneers' practice squad.

Brown last caught a regular-season NFL pass in 2020, when he was with the Bills, but he'll give the Buccaneers some added depth at wide receiver in advance of the team's postseason run. With Chris Godwin (knee) on IR, Antonio Brown no longer in the mix and Cyril Grayson dealing with a hamstring issue, it's plausible that John Brown could be promoted to the active roster before long. The 31-year-old wideout thus is reunited with coach Bruce Arians, who worked with Brown for four seasons (2014 through 2017) while the two were with the Cardinals.

  • John Brown: Not with Jaguars anymore

The Jaguars released Brown from their practice squad Monday, John Shipley of SI.com reports.

The John Brown experiment has ended after two games as the Jaguars continue to try and find a deep threat at wide receiver. The veteran wideout only played seven snaps for Jacksonville over the last two weeks -- three in Week 11 and four in Week 12 -- and didn't register a single catch despite being targeted twice.

  • John Brown: Released Tuesday

Brown was released by the Broncos on Tuesday after he reverted to the practice squad, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.

The wide receiver was active the last two games for the Broncos, failing to reel in a catch with one target over those contests. Brown reverted to the practice following Week 7, and with Jerry Jeudy (ankle) expected to return Week 8, the team decided to cut him loose. The 31-year-old will now search for a new squad going into middle of the regular season.

  • Broncos' John Brown: Catchless in loss

Brown failed to secure his only target in Thursday's 17-14 loss to the Browns.

Brown was elevated from the Broncos' practice squad ahead of Thursday's matchup with the Browns, but the veteran ended up playing on just six of the team's 50 offensive snaps. The wideout's only target in the contest was a shot into the end zone early in the second quarter, but quarterback Teddy Bridgewater's pass was intercepted. Brown was signed by Denver to provide depth at the wide receiver position, but he will likely struggle to see much playing time as Jerry Jeudy is set to make his return from an ankle injury in Week 8. Next up for Denver is a matchup with Washington on Oct. 31.

  • Broncos' John Brown: Added to roster for Thursday's game

The Broncos elevated Brown from the practice squad ahead of Thursday's game against the Browns.

He'll be called up from the practice squad for the second week in a row to help restore depth in the Broncos' depleted receiving corps. Barring Jerry Jeudy's (ankle) surprise activation from injured reserve prior to Thursday's contest, Brown will likely find himself fourth in the pecking order at receiver behind Courtland Sutton, Tim Patrick and Kendall Hinton. Each of the three easily outpaced Brown in terms of playing time in last week's 34-24 loss to the Raiders, with the 31-year-old logging just five snaps in his Denver debut.

  • John Brown: Returns to practice squad

Brown reverted to the Broncos' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.

Brown was a gameday elevation for Sunday's loss to Baltimore and wasn't targeted on six offensive snaps. The 30-year-old joined Denver's practice squad less than a week ago, so he could see a few more opportunities if he's able to get more comfortable in the offense.
