Marrero was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket on Saturday, Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald reports.
Both Marrero and outfielder Ryan LaMarre were recalled Saturday, filling the roster spots vacated by Rusney Castillo and Roenis Elias, who were optioned to Pawtucket on Friday. Marrero is yet to appear in a major league game in 2016, but he logged time in 25 games for Boston last season, hitting .226 with three RBI in 53 at-bats. The infielder has struggled at Triple-A this season, hitting just .216 across 58 games.
