Lawrence recorded eight tackles (seven solo) and also forced a fumble in Sunday's 31-10 loss to the Bills. Lawrence was able to notch a season-high eight stops in the loss, including a fumble-inducing hit on running back Ty Johnson in the fourth quarter, which the Bills recovered. The defensive end has produced 40 tackles, including four sacks, and deflected three passes on top of the forced fumble over 14 games in 2023.... See More ... See Less

Cowboys' DeMarcus Lawrence: Notches first 2023 sack
Lawrence recorded a sack in Sunday's 40-0 win over the Giants. The veteran defensive end hasn't compiled more than 6.5 sacks in a season since 2018, but Lawrence made his presence felt Sunday as the Cowboys' pass rush brought down Daniel Jones seven times in total. With Micah Parsons commanding so much attention from blockers, Lawrence could find plenty of clear paths to the QB in 2023.... See More ... See Less -
Cowboys' DeMarcus Lawrence: Career-high tackle total
Lawrence recorded a career-high 65 tackles (43 solo), including six sacks, through 17 regular-season games in 2022. He added three passes defended, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery that he returned for a touchdown Week 5 against the Rams. With Micah Parsons now the main pass-rushing threat for the Cowboys, Lawrence found himself in more of a run-stuffing role, but he still can make an impact in the backfield. Three of his sacks on the season came Week 3 against the Giants, and he also collected one in the divisional-round loss to the 49ers. The 30-year-old has two more years remaining on his current contract, and cutting him would produce a massive dead-cap hit in 2023, so Lawrence figures to see similar usage again in coordinator Dan Quinn's defense next season.... Cowboys' DeMarcus Lawrence: No injury designation
Lawrence doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's matchup against Jacksonville, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports. After logging back-to-back limited sessions to start Week 15 prep due to a foot issue, Lawrence submitted a full practice Friday and is cleared for Sunday's contest. Across 13 appearances, the veteran defensive end has totaled 53 tackles, six sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery, which he returned for a touchdown.... See More ... See Less -
Cowboys' DeMarcus Lawrence: Limited to start Week 14 prep
Lawrence (foot) was a limited participant during Wednesday's practice, Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News reports. Lawrence was a limited participant with a foot injury to start Week 13 prep as well, but he suited up against the Colts and played 69 percent of the team's defensive snaps. Barring a setback, Lawrence doesn't appear to be in any danger of missing Week 14.... See More ... See Less -
Cowboys' DeMarcus Lawrence: Officially available vs. Giants
Lawrence (foot/illness) is active for Thursday's game against the Giants, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports. Lawrence was expected to suit up Thursday after being listed as questionable, and he'll officially be able to play through a stress fracture in his foot. Over the first 10 games of the year, he's totaled 44 tackles (30 solo), including six sacks, along with two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and a touchdown.... See More ... See Less -
Cowboys' DeMarcus Lawrence: Doesn't practice Tuesday
Lawrence sat out the Cowboys' practice Tuesday, and he is listed as having an illness in addition to a foot injury, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports. Lawrence has been dealing with a foot injury since last week, though he was able to play through the issue and record his sixth sack of the season in Sunday's victory over Minnesota. He was labeled as DNP for Monday's estimated practice before sitting out Tuesday, and the new mention of an illness casts doubt on his ability to take the field against the Giants in Week 12. It doesn't help that the Cowboys have a short week, as they're scheduled for their traditional contest on Thanksgiving Day.... See More ... See Less -
Cowboys' DeMarcus Lawrence: Sits out practice Monday
Lawrence (foot) was listed as a DNP on the Cowboys' injury report Monday, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports. Lawrence popped up with what was labeled as a minor foot injury last Wednesday. While the 30-year-old was considered questionable heading into Sunday's 40-3 win over the Vikings, he was ultimately able to suit up and recorded two tackles, including one sack. Lawrence's 23 defensive snaps Week 11 did mark a season low for the defensive end, though this was likely due to the blowout nature of the contest. The Pro Bowler will have two more practices to increase his activity before Dallas' matchup against the Giants on Thanksgiving Day.... See More ... See Less -
Cowboys' DeMarcus Lawrence: Collects fifth sack
Lawrence recorded seven tackles, including a sack, in Sunday's overtime loss to the Packers. Four different Cowboys tied for the team lead with seven tackles, but Lawrence was the only one to chip in a sack as well. The veteran defensive end has five sacks through nine games, giving him a shot at his first season with double digits since 2018, and with 42 tackles, he's already on pace to shatter his previous career high of 64 in that category.... Cowboys' DeMarcus Lawrence: Limited with chest injury
Lawrence (chest) was listed as a limited participant on the Cowboys' injury report Wednesday, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports. It was previously reported that Lawrence was dealing with a rib injury following Dallas' win over the Rams on Sunday, though he was listed with a chest issue on Wednesday's practice report. While the exact nature and severity of this issue are unclear, it's possible the Cowboys are taking every precaution with the 30-year-old defensive end, as he played his second lowest defensive snaps of the season in Week 5. Lawrence will have two more practices to improve his injury status before Sunday's divisional matchup with the Eagles.... See More ... See Less -
Cowboys' DeMarcus Lawrence: Limited in walkthrough
Lawrence (foot) was listed as a limited participant on the Cowboys' injury report Wednesday, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports. Lawrence temporarily exited Monday's win over the Giants to be examined for a foot injury, though he later returned and logged six tackles with three sacks. However, the 30-year-old's foot continued to ail him during Dallas' limited practice Wednesday. While this could just be a precautionary move given the team's relatively quick turnaround following Monday's game, it will be worth monitoring Lawrence's injury status during full practices Thursday and Friday.... Cowboys' DeMarcus Lawrence: Exits with injury
Lawrence entered the Cowboys' medical tent with a foot injury during Monday's game against the Giants, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports. Lawrence's status for the remainder of Monday's game is unclear after he was forced to exit with a foot injury in the second half. With the veteran defensive end sidelined, rookie Sam Williams should see increased usage for the time being.... See More ... See Less -
Cowboys' DeMarcus Lawrence: Sticking in Dallas
The Cowboys and Lawrence agreed to a new three-year contract Monday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. There were talking points from both sides about Lawrence's contract situation this offseason, but in the end he'll stay with the team that made him a second-round pick back in 2014. Notably, he's now in line to be the first defensive end in league history to have his contract fully guaranteed for seven consecutive campaigns once he plays it out. Since tallying back-to-back seasons with double-digit sacks in 2017 and 2018, Lawrence has managed just 14.5 sacks in 39 games over the last three years. Still, he'll remain the key cog of Dallas' pass rush for the foreseeable future.... See More ... See Less -
Cowboys' DeMarcus Lawrence: Another sack Saturday
Lawrence recorded four tackles (three solo) including a sack and added a pass defended in Saturday's win over the Eagles. The veteran pass rusher was a force once again for the Cowboys, and missing 10 games earlier in the season to injury may have served to keep Lawrence fresh for the playoffs. Over the last five games, he's racked up 14 tackles, three sacks, three passes defended, a forced fumble and an INT he returned for a touchdown, giving him plenty of momentum heading into Sunday's wild-card round matchup against the 49ers.... Cowboys' DeMarcus Lawrence: Logs first sack of season
Lawrence had two solo tackles and one sack during Sunday's divisional win over Washington. Lawrence played 68 percent of defensive snaps in his third appearance of the season, and he managed to tally his first sack. Though a foot injury forced Lawrence to miss 10 games, he has managed to return to full strength in time to assist Dallas' defense as a key pass rusher down the stretch.... See More ... See Less -
Cowboys' DeMarcus Lawrence: Officially removed from IR
Lawrence (foot) was activated from IR on Thursday, Rob Phillips of the Cowboys' official site reports. This move was expected, but it's still a key development, as it officially paves the way for Lawrence to suit up Thursday evening against the Saints. Lawrence has been practicing but will have some rust to shake off since he hasn't played since the season opener, so he'll likely need a few games to ramp up to his usual level of playing time.... Cowboys' DeMarcus Lawrence: Will face Saints on Thursday
Cowboys team owner Jerry Jones said Tuesday that Lawrence (foot) "has had a good week" and will play Thursday versus the Saints, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports. The Cowboys haven't yet officially taken Lawrence off IR, but such a transaction appears imminent. The defensive end hasn't played since Week 1 due to a foot injury, for which he underwent surgery, so it's possible he could have his snap count managed upon retaking the field.... See More ... Cowboys' DeMarcus Lawrence: Not practicing Tuesday, out Week 12
Lawrence (foot) didn't practice Tuesday, though Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said the defensive end could soon be designated for return from injured reserve, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports. Since Lawrence has yet to resume practicing since undergoing surgery Sept. 16 to address a fractured foot, he's safe to rule out for the Cowboys' Thanksgiving Day game against the Raiders. On a more positive note, McCarthy's comments suggested Lawrence might be ready to resume practicing at some point next week. Whenever Lawrence is designated for return from IR, the Cowboys will have 21 days to evaluate him for a spot on the 53-man roster.... See More ... See Less -
Cowboys' DeMarcus Lawrence: Activated from PUP list
The Cowboys activated Lawrence (back) from the PUP list Tuesday, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports. Lawrence isn't yet ready to resume practicing, but he's at least managed to pass his physical. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he expects Lawrence to return to practice mid-August, and if that's indeed how things play out, there won't be any reason to worry about his status for Week 1.... Cowboys' DeMarcus Lawrence: Finishing rehab from back surgery
Lawrence has been placed on the PUP list for the start of training camp after undergoing back surgery this offseason, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports. It was the third back surgery of Lawrence's career, but coach Mike McCarthy says it was "more of a cleanup" and suggested the defensive end should be ready to practice soon. Lawrence has recorded only 11.5 sacks in 32 games the past two seasons, down from 25 sacks in 32 games over the previous two years (2017-18), despite ostensibly still being in his prime (he turned 29 in April). Part of the issue is a lack of pass-rush help, which the Cowboys haven't done much to address.... See More ... See Less
