Wheeler (12-9) allowed five hits over six scoreless frames Monday, striking out nine and earning a win over the Brewers.
Wheeler scattered five singles across six innings and never faced much of a threat in Monday's dominant victory. He entered the game in a hard skid, coughing up 19 earned runs across 26.2 innings (6.41 ERA) in four outings since tossing a complete game shutout on Aug. 8. Wheeler lowered his season ERA back down to 2.91 with a 217:40 K:BB through 28 starts. The 6-foot-4 righty is projected to face the Rockies at home this weekend.
