Week 12 began with a bang on Monday. The stars came out to play and put up some ridiculous stat lines, and there were a pair of improbable upsets. You'll want to see what you missed if you didn't see the action play out. Here's a recap covering some of Monday's most notable performances, followed by some fantasy basketball tidbits to help fantasy managers as the midpoint of Week 12 approaches.

Who's hot

Trae Young

Only Russell Westbrook has scored more fantasy points than Young ahead of Tuesday's slate, and the Atlanta Hawks star is a threat to become the top floor general in points leagues. On Monday, Young scored a season-high 56 points to go along with 14 dimes in a loss to the Portland Trail Blazers. He's set nets ablaze in the four games he's played since returning from health and safety protocols by averaging 36.5 points, 11.3 assists, and 3.0 rebounds.

Joel Embiid

Embiid's one of two top-10 centers that's played fewer than 30 games this year. While he's remained an elite fantasy basketball asset, he's been incredibly productive over his last four outings. On Monday, the Philadelphia 76ers star recorded his third career triple-double against the Houston Rockets with 31 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists. He's averaged 34.3 points, 11.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists during Philly's four-game winning streak.

Bradley Beal

The Washington Wizards might want to look into making Beal a full-time point guard. The bonafide scorer has become his team's top playmaker with Spencer Dinwiddie in health and safety protocols and appears poised to claw his way back into the top three at his position. Beal's tallied 30.3 points, 11.7 assists, and 5.0 rebounds per contest since Dinwiddie was sidelined. He'll face two bottom-six defenses in Week 12.

Who's not

Grayson Allen

Allen looked like a steal early in the year and tapered off big-time around when Donte DiVincenzo made his season debut. The Milwaukee Bucks wing has averaged 5.8 points while shooting 26.1 percent from the field and 22.2 percent from deep since returning from a two-game layoff in late December. DiVincenzo is set to miss 2-3 weeks with an ankle injury, and his absence could give Allen room to find his groove again. Be wary of Allen until he begins to turn things around.

Category booster: Steals

Cody Martin

The Charlotte Hornets' specialty wing defender has flown under the radar for most of the 2021-22 season but has pilfered the rock consistently when he's available. While fantasy managers everywhere are dropping him now that Miles Bridges is back, he can be a valuable steals contributor off the bench moving forward. Only Paul George can top Martin's 47 steals among small forwards. Martin's only rostered in 29 percent of CBS leagues, and picking him up for a boost in roto leagues could be beneficial. He's notched two or more steals in three of his last four outings and 17 multi-steal games this season.

Rookie Report

Cade Cunningham

The NBA's second-worst team (by winning percentage) did the impossible on Monday. The Detroit Pistons knocked off the Milwaukee Bucks, and the top pick in the 2021 NBA Draft had a lot to do with the result. He notched 19 points, four rebounds, and seven assists in the matchup and paced all rookies in fantasy points. It wasn't his best performance of the season, but he was effective in his first game back from a four-game layoff.
