Ravens' Danny Woodhead: Held in check by Miami
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Woodhead had one carry for two yards and failed to corral any of his three targets in Thursday's preseason game against the Dolphins.

Woodhead and Terrance West shared snaps early in the game, with the latter drawing the start and losing two yards on six carries, while the former mostly spent his night dealing with uncatchable passes from Ryan Mallett. It wasn't an encouraging performance for the Baltimore offense, but the split between Woodhead and West fell right in line with expectations. The Ravens are optimistic Joe Flacco (back) will be ready by Week 1.

Ravens' Danny Woodhead: Expected to make preseason debut Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Woodhead is expected to play in Thursday's preseason game against the Dolphins, Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun reports.

Thursday marks Woodhead's first game action since suffering a torn ACL in Week 2 last season as a member of the Chargers. It's unlikely he'll see much in the way of snaps as the Ravens will only use their starters for a handful of series, but fans will get to see a slight glimpse of how Woodhead could be used in the Baltimore offense.

Ravens' Danny Woodhead: Providing underneath threat for Flacco
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Woodhead's route running and ability to get open impressed quarterback Joe Flacco during team activities this offseason, Jamison Hensley of reports.

Hensley points to the fact that Flacco's primary short-yardage passing options from 2016, Dennis Pitta (hip) and Kyle Juszczyk, are both gone, which leaves a hefty amount of targets up for grabs in the Baltimore offense. Woodhead, who has had a speedy recovery from a torn ACL suffered in Week 2, has gotten on the same page with Flacco in terms of pace and timing on routes, and Flacco lauds Woodhead's ability to find soft spots in coverage. Flacco tends to operate more smoothly when there's an underneath threat keeping the defense honest, which is exactly what Woodhead figures to do in the offense. Look for Woodhead to see a high-volume role out of the backfield even if his workload in terms of carries is minimal.

Ravens' Danny Woodhead: Pass-catching magnet with Ravens
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Woodhead marveled with the amount of passes he caught during minicamp, Jeff Zrebiec of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Woodhead, who has caught at least 75 passes in last two healthy seasons, is well-known as a receiving threat, but coming off last year's Week 2 torn ACL and a change in teams, it's still impressive that he's already establishing himself in Baltimore. In fact, since Kenneth Dixon (suspension) will miss the first four games and Terrence West boasts 49 career receptions, Woodhead could be an immediate contributor this season. The 32-year-old has been cleared to run routes for nearly four months now, so he should be firing on all cylinders once the season kicks off, and if minicamp reports are any indication, that should result in significant PPR value out of the backfield.

Ravens' Danny Woodhead: Practicing without restrictions
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Woodhead (knee) is participating in the Ravens' OTAs without restrictions after tearing his ACL during Week 2 of the 2016 season, Ryan Mink of reports.

Woodhead has reportedly been running routes for three months already, and the 32-year-old feels solid after months of recuperation. He'll be part of a crowded running-back crew that includes Terrance West and Kenneth Dixon (suspension), but Woodhead's versatility figures to be used as a weapon out of the backfield or even in the slot.
