Tax day is in the rear-view mirror, but the 2014 MLB season is just beginning. We still have another five and a half months to go, then it's time for the postseason. Here is a recap of Tuesday's news from around the league.

RUMORS & SPECULATION

Padres: Offered 3B Chase Headley a three-year extension in the $33 million to $39 million range. The offer was nowhere close to what Headley is seeking. He will be a free agent after the season. (Jon Heyman)

ROSTER MOVES

Astros: Planning to call up top prospect OF George Springer on Wednesday. OF Robbie Grossman has been sent down and RHP Lucas Harrell will be designated for assignment in corresponding moves.

Blue Jays: Called up IF Munenori Kawasaki, the club announced. RHP Marcus Walden was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Dodgers: Activated RHP Brian Wilson (elbow) off the 15-day DL, the team announced. LHP Paco Rodriguez was sent to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Indians: Activated OF Michael Bourn (hamstring) off the 15-day DL. OF Nyjer Morgan was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Mets: OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis was recalled from Triple-A, the team announced.

Phillies: RHP Mike Adams (shoulder) was activated off the 15-day DL, the team announced. RHP Luis Garcia was sent to the minors in a corresponding move.

Yankees: Recalled C John Ryan Murphy and IF Scott Sizemore from Triple-A, the team announced. RHP Shane Greene was sent to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

INJURY UPDATES

Angels: RHP Dane De La Rosa was placed on the 15-day DL with shoulder inflammation, the team announced. He was optioned to Triple-A on Monday, but that was voided ... OF Kole Calhoun left Tuesday's game with a right ankle injury and will be placed on the DL. (Los Angeles Times)

Blue Jays: SS Jose Reyes (hamstring) is in line to rejoin the team on Friday ... DH Adam Lind is day-to-day with lower back tightness, according to the club.

Cardinals: Activated 2B Mark Ellis from the 15-day DL and assigned IF Pete Kozma to Triple-A, the club announced.

Dodgers: LHP Clayton Kershaw (back) threw a 26-pitch bullpen session and showed his best velocity since getting hurt (MLB.com) .. RHP Chad Billingsley (Tommy John surgery) was sent for an MRI after cutting a bullpen session short due to discomfort. (Orange County Register)

Red Sox: Manager John Farrell was fined for his negative comments about the new replay system.
