2015 MLB All-Stars: How they were acquired

A total of 75 players were selected to the 2015 All-Star Game. Here's a look at how all 75 were acquired by their current teams.

Between all the starters and reserves and injury replacements and pitching replacements, a total of 76 players were selected for the 2015 All-Star Game. That's more than 2 1/2 All-Stars per team and more than one out of every 10 players on a 25-man active roster.

Naturally, those 76 players were acquired in all sorts of ways. Some came over in blockbluster trades, others in minor deals. Some signed huge free agent contracts while one had to settle for a minor league deal. Three former first overall picks are 2015 All-Stars ... and one 21st round pick is an All-Star. There are many ways to acquire talent, so here's a look at how the 76 2015 All-Stars were acquired by their current teams. The transactions are listed chronologically.

The 2015 All-Star Game will be played at 8pm ET on Tuesday night at Cincinnati's Great American Ball Park.

ACQUIRED IN TRADES (24 players)

1B Miguel Cabrera, Tigers: Acquired December 2007 with Dontrelle Willis from the Marlins for Andrew Miller, Cameron Maybin, Burke Badenhop, Dallas Trahern, Mike Rabelo and Frankie De La Cruz.

OF Adam Jones, Orioles: Acquired February 2008 with Chris Tillman, George Sherrill, Kam Mickolio and Tony Butler from the Mariners for Erik Bedard.

OF Jose Bautista, Blue Jays: Acquired August 2008 from the Pirates for a player to be named later (Robinzon Diaz).

OF Matt Holliday, Cardinals: Acquired July 2009 from the Athletics for Clayton Mortensen, Brett Wallace and Shane Peterson. (Holliday re-signed with the Cardinals as a free agent in January 2010.)

SS Alcides Escobar & OF Lorenzo Cain, Royals: Acquired December 2010 with Jeremy Jeffress and Jake Odorizzi from the Brewers for Zack Greinke and Yuniesky Betancourt.

RHP Chris Archer, Rays: Acquired January 2011 with Hak-Ju Lee, Robinson Chirinos, Sam Fuld and Brandon Guyer from the Cubs for Matt Garza, Fernando Perez and Zac Rosscup.

2B DJ LeMahieu, Rockies: Acquired December 2011 with Tyler Colvin from the Cubs for Casey Weathers and Ian Stewart.

1B Anthony Rizzo, Cubs: Acquired January 2012 with Zach Cates from the Padres for Andrew Cashner and Kyung-Min Na.

1B Adrian Gonzalez, Dodgers: Acquired August 2012 with Carl Crawford, Josh Beckett and Nick Punto from the Red Sox for Ivan De Jesus Jr., James Loney, Allen Webster, Rubby De La Rosa and a player to be named later (Jerry Sands).

RHP Wade Davis, Royals: Acquired December 2012 with James Shields and a player to be named later (Elliot Johnson) from the Rays for Wil Myers, Jake Odorizzi, Mike Montgomery and Patrick Leonard.

RHP Mark Melancon, Pirates & UTIL Brock Holt, Red Sox: The Pirates acquired Melancon, Ivan De Jesus Jr., Jerry Sands and Stolmy Pimentel from the Red Sox for Holt and Joel Hanrahan in December 2012.

C Stephen Vogt, Athletics: Acquired April 2013 from the Rays for cash.

SS Jose Iglesias, Tigers: Acquired July 2013 in a three-team trade. Iglesias went to the Tigers, Jake Peavy and Brayan Villarreal went to the Red Sox, and Avisail Garcia, Frankie Montas, Cleuluis Rondon and Jeffrey Wendelken went to the White Sox.

1B Prince Fielder, Rangers: Acquired November 2013 from the Tigers for Ian Kinsler.

LHP Hector Santiago, Angels: Acquired December 2013 in a three-team trade. Santiago and Tyler Skaggs went to the Angels, Mark Trumbo and two players to be named later (A.J. Schugel and Brandon Jacobs) went to the Diamondbacks, and Adam Eaton went to the White Sox.

RHP Brad Boxberger, Rays: Acquired January 2014 with Matt Andriese, Logan Forsythe, Matt Lollis and Maxx Tissenbaum from the Padres for Alex Torres and Jesse Hahn.

LHP David Price, Tigers: Acquired July 2014 in a three-team trade. Price went to the Tigers, Austin Jackson went to the Mariners, and Nick Franklin, Drew Smyly and Willy Adames went to the Rays.

RHP Shelby Miller, Braves: Acquired November 2014 with Tyrell Jenkins from the Cardinals for Jason Heyward and Jordan Walden.

3B Josh Donaldson, Blue Jays: Acquired November 2014 from the Athletics for Brett Lawrie, Kendall Graveman, Sean Nolin and Franklin Barreto.
