Alabama opens 2013 as No. 1 in coaches poll preseason Top 25
The preseason poll of college football coaches has been tabulated by USA Today. Alabama finished just ahead of Ohio State, Oregon, Stanford, and Georgia.
With three BCS titles in the past four years, it comes as no surprise to see Alabama at No. 1 in the preseason coaches poll.
The Crimson Tide have a long season ahead before the discussion of a possible three-peat as national champions, but the path has been set with a preseason No. 1 ranking in the coaches poll. Alabama received 58 of 62 first-place votes with Ohio State and Texas A&M receiving the others.
Ohio State, coming off a 12-0 season in which they were ineligible to compete in a bowl due to NCAA sanctions, starts the season No. 2. Pac-12 North rivals Oregon and Stanford come in at No. 3 and No. 4. Georgia, the SEC runner-up by five yards a year ago, rounds out the top five.
