  • Diakite was released by the Thunder on Wednesday, Joe Mussatto of The Oklahoman reports. The 25-year-old drew starts in each of Oklahoma City's first three games in February, but he returned to a bench role Monday and will now be let go after the Thunder acquired KZ Okpala on Wednesday. Diakite averaged 4.3 points and 4.5 rebounds in 14.5 minutes per game across 24 appearances with the Thunder this season.

  • Diakite will come off the bench Monday against the Warriors, Joe Mussatto of The Oklahoman reports. Diakite averaged 7.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks while starting the past three games and will move to the bench Monday. He should serve as the reserve center with Derrick Favors entering the lineup.

  • Diakite logged 12 points (4-8 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 4-4 FT), seven rebounds, two assists and three blocks across 30 minutes during Friday's 96-93 win over the Trail Blazers. This was easily the best game of Diakite's brief NBA career, which began with the Bucks last season before he was picked up by the Thunder in mid-January. Diakite is still on a 10-day deal -- his third with OKC -- so he may not have much security, but if the Thunder opt to sign him for the remainder of the season, he could emerge as an out-of-nowhere fantasy option on a team with its sights set on another high lottery pick. Oklahoma City doesn't have a ton of appealing options at center, and that's especially true with Jeremiah Robinson-Earl (foot) set to miss at least the next six weeks.

  • Diakite contributed two points (1-5 FG), 10 rebounds, one block and one steal across 18 minutes during Wednesday's 120-114 overtime victory over Dallas. Diakite was a surprise starter Wednesday, grabbing a career-high 10 rebounds in the process. Although the Thunder are clearly looking to develop their young players, Diakite does not appear to have a secure long-term role, at least from a fantasy perspective. He is a name to watch in deeper formats, but for those in standard leagues, there is no reason to make any speculative moves based on this one performance.

  • Diakite will start Wednesday's game at Dallas, Brandon Rahbar of DailyThunder.com reports. Diakite will make his first start of the season with Jeremiah Robinson-Earl (foot) a late scratch for Wednesday's contest. Derrick Favors should also see more run at center for the Thunder.
