Duke took its first loss of the calendar year over the weekend in a stunning 76-74 defeat to Miami, making it one of the most high-profile fallers in Monday's updated AP Top 25 poll. The Blue Devils came in at No. 8 on the heels of the loss, its first at home since February of last season. It's the first time since Dec. 13, 2021, Duke is not ranked No. 2 in the AP Poll.
The shakeup at the top wasn't exclusive to Durham, either, as Purdue, which had been ranked No. 3 for a month, also took a loss last week in 74-69 fashion to Wisconsin. The Boilermakers fell only four spots to No. 7. Kansas, another top-10 team from last week, also took a loss but fell only three spots from No. 6 to No. 9.
It wasn't all tumbling for teams in this week's poll, though, as Wisconsin made the biggest leap among 12 teams that moved up with a 10-spot leap from No. 23 to No. 13. LSU came in with the second-highest rise by moving up nine spots to No. 12 following wins over ranked Kentucky and Tennessee teams.
Meanwhile at the top of the poll, Baylor clung to its No. 1 unanimous ranking by receiving all 61 first-place votes. However, the top-five got a complete makeover with Gonzaga moving up two spots to No. 2, UCLA moving up two spots to No. 3, Auburn climbing five spots to No. 4 and USC moving from No. 7 to No. 5, the Trojans' highest ranking since they were No. 5 in December 1974.
