Who's Playing

Eastern Illinois @ Northern Illinois

Current Records: Eastern Illinois 1-6; Northern Illinois 1-5

What to Know

The Northern Illinois Huskies will square off against the Eastern Illinois Panthers at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday at Convocation Center. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

The Huskies ended up a good deal behind the Marquette Golden Eagles when they played on Saturday, losing 80-66. Northern Illinois' defeat came about despite a quality game from guard Keshawn Williams, who had 17 points.

Meanwhile, the matchup between EIU and the Evansville Aces on Sunday was not particularly close, with the Panthers falling 70-54.

NIU is the favorite in this one, with an expected 6.5-point margin of victory. Those who got lucky with them against the spread on Saturday might want to hold off on placing bets this time since the team has yet to string together back-to-back wins against the spread.

The losses put NIU at 1-5 and EIU at 1-6. A pair of offensive numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: NIU has only been able to knock down 35.90% percent of their shots, which is the 354th lowest field goal percentage in college basketball. The Panthers have experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the contest with the 348th fewest points per game in college basketball, having accrued only 59.4 on average. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
