Who's Playing

South Alabama @ No. 14 Alabama

Current Records: South Alabama 1-1; Alabama 2-0

What to Know

The #14 Alabama Crimson Tide have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the South Alabama Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. ET Nov. 16 at Coleman Coliseum. Bama will be strutting in after a victory while South Alabama will be stumbling in from a loss.

The Crimson Tide didn't have too much trouble with the South Dakota State Jackrabbits at home last week as they won 104-88. Five players on Bama scored in the double digits: guard Jahvon Quinerly (26), guard Jaden Shackelford (23), guard Keon Ellis (15), forward Darius Miles (13), and center Charles Bediako (12). Charles Bediako's performance made up for a slower matchup against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs last Tuesday.

Meanwhile, South Alabama was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap this past Saturday as they fell 64-58 to the Wichita State Shockers. One thing holding South Alabama back was the mediocre play of guard Jay Jay Chandler, who did not have his best game: he played for 31 minutes but put up just eight points on 3-for-12 shooting.

The Crimson Tide are the favorite in this one, with an expected 20.5-point margin of victory. They have been consistent moneymakers against the spread when favored (2-0), so they might be worth a quick bet.

South Alabama's defeat took them down to 1-1 while Alabama's win pulled them up to 2-0. In Alabama's win, Keon Ellis posted a double-double on 15 points and 13 boards and Jahvon Quinerly had 26 points and eight assists in addition to five rebounds. We'll see if the Jaguars have a strategy for dealing with them or if they lead their team to another successful outing.
