Anaheim assigned Comtois to AHL San Diego on Friday. San Diego is currently taking on Bakersfield in the second round of the Calder Cup playoffs, so Comtois will add some extra fire power to the Gulls' lineup for the remainder of their postseason run. The 2017 second-round pick racked up 31 goals and 48 points in 25 appearances with QMJHL Drummondville this campaign.
Comtois (shoulder) posted a hat trick and added two assists in QMJHL Drummondville's 8-2 win over Val-d'Or on Saturday. With four goals and seven points in two games since returning to the lineup, Comtois is clearly over the separated shoulder he suffered at the World Junior Championship in early January. Drummondville added a bunch of talent to its roster (Comtois included) at the QMJHL trade deadline and the team should remain one of the league's best the rest of the way. Expect Comtois' numbers to rise as a result.
Comtois, a prospect for the Ducks, sustained a separated shoulder at the world junior hockey championship, Josh Beneteau of Sportsnet reports, adding that the forward will miss the next two weeks to the detriment of the QMJHL's Drummondville. Comtois made serious noise with the Ducks to begin his NHL career, adding two goals on a 22.2 shooting percentage to go along with five assists through the first 10 games of the 2018-19 season. As noted by Sportsnet, the Canadian took a lot of heat on social media for missing a penalty shot in a quarterfinal match of world juniors against Finland, but he remains an intriguing dynasty stash despite the missed opportunity and even his latest injury, which he played through.
Comtois (lower body) was sent to AHL San Diego on Saturday for conditioning purposes, Mikael Lalancette of TVA Sports reports. Comtois has missed the past eight games, so it's no surprise that the Ducks have placed him in the minors for conditioning. The Quebec native produced two goals and five assists over his first 10 NHL contests leading up to the unfortunate lower-body injury. He remains on injured reserve, but a conditioning assignment usually suggests that the player is on the verge of returning to action.
Comtois (lower body) is listed on injured reserve, per the NHL's official media site. Comtois will be eligible to return Nov. 1 against the Rangers. The 19-year-old rookie has been stellar for the Ducks, with the winger accumulating two goals and five assists through his first 10 games at the top level.
